The Sustainable Development department is comprised of the following areas that support the goals and objectives of the First Nation for Economic Development, Lands & Resources, Governance & Consultation, Culture & Heritage and the Environment.

Services Provided


Lands & Resources
The Director of Sustainable Development (SDD) is primarily responsible for this section. This includes building and maintaining relationships/partnerships with industry, third party interests and government on both a federal and provincial level. The SDD Director also provides technical support to Chief and Council on the Land Claim.

Environmental
Overseen by the Environmental Coordinator, Mapping, GIS, permit analysis & reviews, site visits, first point of contact for third party interests, environmental monitoring, and assessments.

Governance
The Governance and Consultation manager is responsible for the law & policy development, ensuring the foundational principles of the Chi-Nakinagewin are maintained, internal and external consultation processes, community engagement, education and awareness

Culture & Heritage
Story collection, history collection, land based and reconnection activities, traditional knowledge, land use and occupancy studies/transportation route mapping projects.
