Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Education Director, the Student Transportation Driver will be responsible for providing clean, safe, and reliable transportation for Biigtigong Nishnaabeg community youth attending Marathon High School. This service primarily supports secondary students participating in extracurricular activities and school-related programs.
This position could potentially operate on a rotating schedule shared among multiple drivers depending on interest received.

Position Overview:
The SWP Coordinator will lead the development of a community-based Source Water Protection Plan in collaboration with the Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) and community partners. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys project management, community consultation, and meaningful work in environmental stewardship.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Valid Class G Ontario’s Driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Strong time management and communications skills
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours
  • Experience working with youth
  • Comfortable driving in all weather conditions

Key Responsibilities:

The Student Transportation Driver shall:

  • Provide daily transportation for secondary school students, daily beginning at 12:00pm (noon) and Monday-Thursday evenings.
  • Must be available for evening transportation to and from extracurricular or school-related activities
  • Coordinate with school and education staff to ensure timely pickups and drops-offs.
  • Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts and/or restraints at all times while the vehicle is in operation in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act
  • Ensure that anyone under the age of sixteen has written consent to utilize the student transportation service
  • Maintain the daily log and vehicle check
  • Obey all rules of the road, speed limits, and safety regulations; all fines, parking tickets, or vehicle infractions will be the sole responsibility of the driver
  • Clean the student transportation vehicle after each use
