Contract Supervisor at Barrick Hemlo

Full Time Permanent – Open to Biigtigong Nishnaabeg Members

Under the direction of the Contract Coordinator and Barrick Representatives, the Contract Supervisor is responsible for the following summary or duties, but not limited to:

Time-Card Management: Communicate with all Contract Personnel and their supervisors for the completion of time- cards. Participate in interviews and investigations and report accordingly to the PRDC Contract Coordinator

Orientations: Complete orientation program within the work area where the Contract Personnel will be working.

Employee Concerns: Maintain regular communications with Contract Personnel and if concerns are raised follow up with appropriate Company representative and/or Contract Coordinator

Training Records: Ensure that all training records are registered and delivered to the Contract Coordinator

Human Resources: Optimally manage Human Resources with reference to performance, absenteeism, grievances, quality, overtime, training and development. Familiarity and compliance to the Employment Standards Act.

Invoicing: Contract Supervisor along with Contract Coordinator must prepare and submit invoices in a timely manner.

Communications: Effectively communicate with all Contract Personnel, Hemlo and contractor employees. Attend morning meetings with the General Foreman, Superintendent and Management for direction.

Safety & Environment Responsibilities: Ensure compliance to all environmental, health and safety Acts, policies and procedures. Ensure adequate accident prevention practices are maintained. Ensure all hazards are reported and investigated. Provide employees with a safe and healthy work environment. Complete investigation reports.

First Nation Work Areas: Communicate with the Company front line supervisors. Make workplace visits. Perform physical inspections to determine if work meets company standards. Ensure all work completed supports the activities of the subsequent shifts. Keep a daily log of workplace visits and any concerns or issues to follow up and communicate with Employee Relations.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 1 Year Supervisory Experience
  • Mining Experience Required
  • Supervisor Common Core an asset
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12)
  • Class G Driver’s License
  • All new employees must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.

  • Excellent Excel and Microsoft Word experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership and time management skills through training and/or experience
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Physically fit
