Job Responsibilities include: greet and direct all visitors, answer the telephone and operate the switchboard/public address system; type all correspondence, minutes, and reports; take and prepare Band meeting and council meeting minutes; pickup and redirect the mail, log all incoming and outgoing correspondence; record the arrival and departure of all staff, noting time of arrival and absences from the office; maintain and stock Band forms; operate the fax and photocopier; manage all bookings for all Band facilities; assemble and produce the biweekly Band Bulletin; inventory and order janitorial and office supplies; prepare biweekly reports on progress to the Band Manager; attend all Band meetings; and attend workshops as directed to upgrade skills and information base. |

The Band Administrator is responsible for the management, administration and delivery of all First Nation programs and services in order to ensure that the needs of the First Nation are met in a reasonable, effective and efficient manner. Reporting to the Chief and Council, the Band Administrator will oversee all operations of the First Nation including Finance & Administration, Capital/Housing, Health, Education, Economic Development, Children & Family Learning Centre and Lands & Resources. They are responsible to ensure that all operations are conducted in a respectful and responsible manner and that all decisions and actions meet the relevant legislation, policies and procedures. The Band Administrator also acts as liaison between other government agencies and departments, private industry business and any other individuals, groups or agencies operating in the community. |

Duties and Responsibilities include managing and administering Group Pension, Insurance and benefits for employees of Pic River First Nation. Bi-weekly I administer the payroll system. Also responsible for keeping an alpha filing system for Personal and Attendance file records and tracking and updating time sheet records. |

Has been employed with PRFN since 1981 and has 25 years experience in the finance department. During her career she has obtained financial and Accounting training through Confederation College and in 2002 received her Certified Aboriginal Finance Manager designation from the Aboriginal Finance Officers of Canada which took place in Vancouver. Alvina was appointed PRFN Finance Manager in the fall of 2001. Under the direction of the Band Manager, Chief and Council, the Finance Manager oversees the Financial Picture of the Band and is solely responsible of its operation by making sure the financial statements present fairly and meet the auditing principles as conducted by our auditing firm. Alvina oversees the cash position of the Band, and is supervisor to the payroll , accounts payable , accounts receivable departments. She has developed positive relationships with banking institutions, funding agencies & Tribal Councils. The Finance Manager works closely with all program managers. |

Reporting to the Office Manager, the Senior Finance Clerk is an integral part of the Finance and Human Resources department of the Ojibways of the Pic River First Nation. Responsible to provide accounting services to the following program areas: Band Administration, Education, Human Resources, Capital, Recreation, Health, and Miscellaneous. |

I work in the Finance Office on the accounts payable and report to the Senior Finance. My main duties are to review and process invoices from various vendors for payments, cheque requisitions from various clients for manual cheque runs on a weekly basis, process student allowances which are made by direct deposit into their respective bank accounts, and file the financial statements after the payments have been made. I’m also on the Board of Directors with the Anishinabek Nation Credit Union as the Pic River First Nations’ representative. I am also a member of the Housing Committee. |
